Protecting a Woman’s Reproductive Rights

Alan supports a woman’s right to choose 100%.

Alan believes that a woman’s right to decide to have a safe and legal abortion is indispensable, and that it would be a travesty for the courts to overturn Roe v. Wade and turn the clocks back to a time when abortions were illegal. He believes that the decision to terminate a pregnancy is one that each woman should be able to make, together with her family and doctor, and that this is not a decision to be put in the hands of politicians. Alan strongly supports the principles established in Roe v. Wade, and will help ensure that they are protected by supporting judicial nominees with the same commitment.

Publicly funded family planning prevents nearly 2 million unintended pregnancies and more than 800,000 abortions in the United States each year, saving billions of dollars. But Republicans in the U.S. Senate recently attacked funding for Title X Family Planning and Planned Parenthood. This episode reminds us that strong and consistent leadership is needed to protect access to women’s health and family planning services. Assuring reproductive health care so that women’s lives and their health are not put in jeopardy is a priority that Alan will never trade for other legislative or political gains.
